UMO receives Kone Foundation grant to strengthen regional polyphony

UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra has received a three-year grant from Kone Foundation to strengthen regional polyphony in big band art. UMO’s goal is to use the grant to develop long-term regional cooperation with composers and arrangers and support their work through commissioning new works and composition rentals.

UMO wants to strengthen the Finnish big band field into a more polyphony, sustainable entity that respects the intrinsic value of art, also extending beyond Helsinki.

The greatest thanks to Kone Foundation for making this possible!
