The Workers’ Music Festival takes place by the canal in the centre of Valkeakoski, in the industrial milieu of the Tervasaari mill area and the Myllysaari museum 25.–28.7.2019. The working industrial facility and the historic museum area together create a unique setting for the event that attracts every year about 40 000 music lovers of all ages. In addition to concerts and clubs, the four-day event includes outdoor dancing and exhibitions. The traditional night-time singalong event by the pond in the woods is a celebration of sentiment, light and music.
UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra plays with the soloists Vuokko Hovatta, Jesse Kaikuranta and Juha Viitala on Saturday 27th July, a special programme consisting of worker’s music as big band jazz versions. The conductor is Ville Vannemaa.
