UMO Jazz Orchestra visits Seinäjoki after several years!
In this concet, UMO Jazz Orchestra and jazz singer Aili Ikonen will plunge into the world of film music – be prepared for iconic tunes that will make you cry, laugh and be stirred inside!
Concert Blue Notes on Silver Screen comprises well-known and beloved score themes and nostalgic big band music from the 50s to today. The dazzling jazz singer Aili Ikonen will join UMO as a soloist and the concert will be conducted by Kirmo Lintinen.
The programme will be composed of music from many film genres – animation to horror and hardboiled action – including numbers from such films as Anatomy of A Murder, Touch of Evil, The Pink Panther and The Incredibles. The concert will feature pieces from the repertories of Duke Ellington, Raymond Scott, Henry Mancini and Monty Norman, among others.
Jazz and cinema were born around the same time, in late 19th century, but blue notes hit the silver screen big time only in the 50s and 60s when large string orchestras were replaced by the energy of big bands. Now UMO will unleash their energy and tackle the musical treasures of film classics giving them a subtle facelift.
